Most commercial building owners only find out what their policy really covers on the day they need it. My job is to make sure that day is uneventful. 

I have been in commercial insurance since 2002. I am Co-Founder and Account Director at Consolidated Insurance Brokers, working from our New Farm office in Brisbane, where I look after commercial property clients. 

In that time I have reviewed thousands of commercial insurance policies and negotiated insurance terms with Australian insurers and underwriters. 

I work with commercial building owners, commercial landlords, SMSFs holding commercial property, portfolio investors and owner-occupier business owners. 

We are not the cheapest and we do not try to be. We compare insurers, we read the wording, and we build the cover around the building rather than around the price. The work shows up at claim time, when we run the claim for you instead of handing you a form. That is what claims advocacy means in practice. 

If the sum insured is wrong, everything else is decoration. So we start there, with a proper view of what the building would cost to rebuild today, not last year’s figure with a percentage added.
